🎬 Captain America: Brave New World Had a ‘Tense’ Production, Reports Say
Marvel’s latest film, Captain America: Brave New World, has opened to mixed reviews from critics but strong audience support. However, behind the scenes, the movie’s production was reportedly far from smooth.
A Vulture report quotes an unnamed crew member describing the set as “tense and frustrating,” with particular criticism aimed at Harrison Ford, who makes his Marvel debut as Thaddeus Ross (Red Hulk).
🎥 ‘Everyone Knew This Wasn’t Going to Be a Good Film’
According to the source, the film underwent extensive reshoots, leading to concerns among the crew about its final quality.
“Reshoots are a part of making any big-budget movie, but this isn’t Marvel’s first rodeo,” the crew member said. “Entire sequences we shot won’t even make it into the film, and that’s very expensive. Basically, dealing with A-list egos was the issue.”
While they didn’t blame director Julius Onah, they described Harrison Ford as the biggest challenge on set, making for what they called “the most tense Marvel shoot I’ve ever worked on.”
🎭 Harrison Ford Criticized as ‘A Diva’ on Set
The most shocking revelation was about Ford’s attitude during filming. At 82, the Hollywood legend reportedly struggled with the physically demanding role and was reluctant to perform motion capture work.
“Harrison Ford was one of the crankiest performers I ever dealt with. Which was sad. I’m a fan. But he was very much a diva,” the crew member claimed.
They also mentioned Ford’s past plane crash, which left him unable to raise his left arm fully, making the motion-capture process even more difficult.
“We had to suit up 80-something Harrison Ford in these motion-capture dots. It seemed like he hated it and didn’t want to do it. And when Harrison was done, he was done. Everyone was scrambling to make him happy, which made for a very awkward work environment.”
🍅 Captain America 4 Gets Lowest Rotten Tomatoes Score of the Franchise
Despite the hype around Anthony Mackie’s first solo outing as Captain America, the film currently holds a 53% score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the lowest-rated Captain America film in MCU history.
For comparison:
✅ Captain America: The First Avenger – 80% RT score
✅ Captain America: The Winter Soldier – 90% RT score
✅ Captain America: Civil War – 91% RT score
This low rating suggests that Marvel’s Phase V continues to struggle, following mixed receptions for recent projects.
